Dan Fischer - Canoe Guide Extraordinare

We received a nice letter yesterday from William Brown who was just on one of our 5 day Algonquin "one way" canoe trips. William attached this picture ( see left ) along with some kind words complimenting Dan Fisher, his guide for the trip. For those of you who have not met Dan, he is one of our hardest working guides on the Voyageur Quest canoe guide team.

Dan's passion is the wilderness and he is happiest in a canoe - on the trail- exploring and sharing his passion with others. His easy smile and boundless enthusiasm are contagious
Last week, I was sitting on the Nipissing deck , enjoying the afternoon sun when a Voyageur Quest red canoe caught my attention. Rigged with a homemade rig, the canoe sailed out of the outpost bay with great speed. After walking to the dock, I could see it was Dan- enjoying a day off by experimenting with homemade sails. His canoe/ sail rig was more advanced ( boom, sheet,) and he was actually able to sail on a reach and come about ! Here are a few shots of Dan's out on Kawawaymog Lake.
